The ANZAC Memorial area is an important place for students, staff and families, many of whom have strong ties to the Trentham Military Camp to gather and recognise New Zealanders killed in war and honour returned and serving servicemen and women. This small rectangular area was in need of a refresh ahead of the schools centenary in 2024. MOAT was engaged to design a space that acknowledges the significance of the area for formal gathering whilst also providing a suitable space for daily use as a robust, attractive green space. The design uses durable materials such as concrete combined with clever planting (a mix of Australian and NZ natives) and a beautiful 'poppy; mosaic under the flagpole plinth which will be completed by students.
